This project involved designing environmental wall graphics to improve customer flow into the IKEA restaurant by encouraging shoppers to leave trolleys and bags outside the entrance. Installed on two identical walls at the restaurant entrance, the visuals needed to communicate the message clearly and positively within a busy, family-focused retail environment.

After measuring the space, I developed visual mockups that integrated IKEA product imagery composited into the iconic yellow FRAKTA bags. The graphics were designed to interact with the existing wall pegs, visually suggesting that customers hang their bags before entering the restaurant. The concept used humour and familiar IKEA references to guide behaviour intuitively without relying on lengthy written instructions.

The final designs featured playful compositions showing different products placed inside oversized FRAKTA bags, creating variation while maintaining a clear and recognisable visual cue. The approach aligned with IKEA’s brand language and was designed to remain engaging and easy to understand within a high-traffic area.

Following installation, the graphics helped encourage customers to leave trolleys and bags outside the restaurant, improving circulation at the entrance and reducing congestion. The solution was well received by families and added a light-hearted, interactive element to the space.
